Recording Portfolio
Here is where I publish recordings I've made. I have an opinionated philosophy about music, and I hope it rings through, in a good way.
The most important part of sounding good is the way in which you listen. The second most important part of sounding good is looking like you sound good. On top of that, the music has to be good, the performance has to be good, and the recording has to be good. Nobody's perfect, because if it was perfect it wouldn't mean anything. I still try my best, and I still listen to recordings years later and think they would be a little better if I did this or that instead.
Rise of the Triad
Rise of the Triad is a 1994 videogame by Apogee Software and 3D Realms. I chose patches from a substantial pile of soundfonts, mixed them into finished tracks, then mastered them for release. The mastering was more of a learning exercise; Rip Rowan's article Over The Limit was published, and I wanted to see what the dark side had to offer. The unmastered tracks are pleasant enough to listen to, but they definitely sound green. The mastered versions sound “done” in comparison, despite the radioactivity.
Goin' Down the Fast Way was composed by Lee Jackson. I think the only change I made was to add orchestral hits.
