- time signature
- Most settings are in free time, or just don't need a signature.
- key signature
- On the left, “Key signatures” is a palette. Drag and drop (I think?)
- add notes
- Keyboard entry, and watch what you're doing because it likes to jump octaves when you least expect it.
- pickup notes
- add slurs
- delete extra measures
- set page to A7, landscape
- Futz with the spacing until you're happy
- To split a measure in the middle:
- Select the note immediately after where you want the split
- Tools → Measure → “Split Measure Before Selected Note/Rest”
- Select a note in the measure before the split
- press enter; the lines should be how you want them now.
- Send to GIMP, send directly to GIMP
- white to transparency
- copy into LibreOffice Impress (this step might not work right)
- add text boxes for words
- Futz with the spacing until you're happy
