This is an old revision of the document!
Sunday Morning Makeover
The process that we use for our Sunday services could really do with some refinement. Ed's built this system, and it makes generating the scripts and orders of service better, reduces errors, etc., but it is a LOT of work, and we still end up doing the service out of order most weeks.
As an alternative, we might consider having mock service and a real service every week. Eventually, we might need to have two services per week. (I can dream…)
Whatever changes, this process needs attention. And this paragraph sucks and I'm sorry.
Warmups and Voluntaries
It's not time to make this change yet; we need
- the organ fixed
- me to be able to play a 15 minute voluntary (probably 80-120 hours of practice)
- Julia isn't on board with moving warm-ups
Consider that the congregation provides, as a gift, candles for people to light. In service of people doing that, we should try to provide an atmosphere that's consistent with the marking of joys, sorrows, and concerns. We should have the choir warm up Sunday mornings in Westwood hall, and have soft organ or piano music in the sanctuary before service.
Always Plug Next Week's Service
We aren't good about this and it just popped into my head and is going to get lost if I don't write it down here, now. Please put it where it goes when you figure out where that is. Thanks.
