Why Powers are Super

Part of what it means to be a human being is that our power is limited.

Another part is that everyone has some areas of life where power flows naturally; there's an experience of “here's something I'm really good at;” and you're probably better at it than most everyone you know.

I, for example, am extremely smart, freakishly punctual, and driven to be perfect: I will deliver a product that exceeds your expectations and anticipates your needs, before you've asked for it.

I call them superpowers because they are truly super. What it means to be human does not provide for those levels of performance. The super powers that you experience are powers that almost everyone else experiences as powers they only have in normal amounts. FIXME This sentence is terrible.

But part of being human is that, for the most part, these superpowers come with fatal weaknesses. Superman's allergy to Kryptonite is a perfect example. While my ability to deliver amazing performance is outside of the realm of “normal” for most human beings, it comes with a debilitating allergy to failure.

This page is about how to improve your superpowers: how to create new ones as desired, and to remove the limitations and fatal flaws from the ones you already have.

Basic Explanation

If you're older than about 7, you've almost certainly had at least one very difficult experience where, for the first time, you felt like you were not enough in some critical way.

Older than about 14, you've almost certainly had at least one very difficult experience where, for the first time, you felt like you did not belong in some critical way–you were different; an outsider.

About 21, you've almost certainly had at least one very difficult experience where, for the first time, you really felt like you were on your own; that no one would be coming to save you.

In these moments, you invented your main superpowers.

FIXME Needs lots and lots more. Good start. Have a biscuit.
